Nicole Ari Parker, an American actor, who has been featured in films and television as well as in stage productions, is known for playing Teri Joseph, a flamboyant lawyer in the show the show on Showtime called Soul Food. Contractor, born from Mumbai in India she was raised in Nigeria up until she turned seven. She'd been exposed to many different travels and other cultures since a young age. From the age of seven through nine, she was a student at boarding schools in London. The family later relocated to Toronto which she stayed in for most of her childhood. Contractor was a student and a classical dancer in Toronto. In the Etobicoke School of the Arts (a public high school specializing in arts) she studied the theatre and dance. Contractor began her acting career at 16, following nearly 10 years of dancing. After she completed high school and was awarded a full scholarship for tuition to University of Toronto where she studied theatre with a double diploma in sociology and psychology. After a single semester at the University, Contractor went to an open audition for the show Pericles at the prestigious famous, world-class Stratford Shakespeare Festival [Ontario, Canada and got the lead role. After the show ran for 92 times, she was rewarded with praise from the audience. This play was named the top production in Canada by critics. She was invited to attend Stratford's conservatory. It is a place which allows just four men and eight women are able to take an intensive 20-week training in classical theater. The role was secured for Contractor for the following season of shows She was also offered Hermia's role in A Midsummer Night's Dream.
